(Image Description: This ismage shows a hand-crafted retro sci-fi ray gun with that classic 1950s Buck Rogers aesthetic. The laser-cut basswood construction gives it clean, precise details. Painted pieces maintain the playful, colorful design of red, turquoise, and other warm hues typical of mid-century space toys. The raygun features the classic bulbous design with fins at the top and back, an elongated barrel with brightly colored rings, and a comfortable grip.)
I’ve recently been playing with my new laser cutter and I thought, what better thing to make with a laser cutter than a laser. I’ve always been a fan of the retro 50s sci-fi aesthetic, Buck Rogers (or Duck Dodgers) style.
This piece is cut from one 12x12in sheet of basswood and assembled using the pegs and CA glue. Pieces were painted before gluing and the whole thing was finished with a semi-gloss acrylic varnish.
This was my first piece of this type on the laser cutter and I’m extremely pleased with how it turned out.
